Bittrex Trading Platform Guide
Bittrex is a trading platform headquartered in Seattle, in the United States. Bittrex is one of the largest online cryptocurrency exchanges.
It often works its way into the world’s top 3 exchanges by trading volume. Bittrex has operated since 2014, and its 24-hour trading volume is currently under $300 million.
The site has a good reputation, and so far no breaches have been reported. Bittrex positions itself as a next-generation trading platform and aims to offer faster, more secure trading.
Bittrex is a US-based blockchain trading platform. In partnership with Cryptofacil and the FINTECH digital-asset trading platform, it launched a digital-currency exchange for customers in the Caribbean and Latin America. With more than 200 tokens available, this new exchange is set to significantly change crypto markets in that part of the world. According to a press release issued earlier in September 2026, the partnership aims to combine Bittrex’s advanced trading technology with a wide range of digital tokens selected through a rigorous token-review process, while the Cryptofacil team handles customer service.

Who founded Bittrex?
Bittrex was started by co-founder and CEO Bill Shihara, who drew on his experience as a security engineer at Amazon and BlackBerry when building the exchange. Shihara’s motivation came from the security breaches and reliability problems that trading platforms faced with users; he wanted to offer a much more reliable service. Bittrex has a strong team with over 50 years of combined security and development experience from companies including Microsoft, Amazon, Qualys and BlackBerry.
What is Bittrex?

Bittrex introduced a number of features and practices to help it get ahead of competitors, including:
A secure platform
- The team behind Bittrex takes pride in providing a secure platform using the most reliable security technology available. This includes a multi-stage, flexible wallet strategy that keeps 80-90% of funds offline and secure. Two-factor authentication (2FA) is also required for all withdrawals and API use.
- Bittrex is also headquartered in Seattle, USA, so it is subject to oversight under US anti-money-laundering programs.
- Note: two-factor authentication means the user must provide two types of information before a transaction is carried out. The first is entering a password; the second is a code sent to the user’s mobile phone.
A dedicated trading engine
Bittrex is built to be scalable using elastic computing, so it can process and execute orders as soon as they are placed. This helps avoid order-book backlog or delays in processing trades.
Fast withdrawals
The system is set up to allow fast transaction processing through an automated monitoring platform. This enables faster transactions and quick updates to balances, trades and wallet information. On Bittrex, key information is always kept continuously updated.
Customer support
As one of the world’s largest exchange marketplaces, sites like this often face a large number of support tickets, which can strain resources. Even so, Bittrex generally handles communication well, runs a dedicated support page and is very active on social media.
Accessibility
Bittrex offers fast access to a large number of cryptocurrency transactions along with high trading volume. The site lists hundreds of cryptocurrencies. Customers can easily trade the equivalent of 1 Bitcoin per day with an unverified account, and up to 2 Bitcoin per day with a basic account, provided two-factor authentication (2FA) is enabled.
One feature worth noting: most platforms require identity verification before you can start trading, which is not the case here. You can trade more than $40,000 (the value of Bitcoin at the time of writing) without verifying your account.
Transparent fees
Bittrex charges a 0.25% trading fee on all trades, which lets customers easily calculate the fees accrued on any trade.
What can you trade on Bittrex Global?
One of the site’s main strengths is the depth of its listings. Bittrex currently lists hundreds of coins and offers users hundreds of crypto trading pairs, with more than 450 pairs against Bitcoin. Bittrex offers good options for trading via Bitcoin and Ethereum, but it does not currently offer fiat trading pairs (trading in US dollars, euros or British pounds). Users can buy Bitcoin, Ethereum or USDT via bank transfer; to do so, an “approved enhanced” account is required along with a purchase of at least $10,000.

In addition, the site offers 11 USDT currency pairs.
USDT is a digital-currency asset issued on the Bitcoin blockchain. Each USDT unit is backed by US dollars held in reserve by Tether Limited. USDT is pegged to the US dollar price and works as a stablecoin that gives traders extra options. USDT can be transferred, spent and stored the same way as other cryptocurrencies. To trade USDT against fiat currencies, users can buy and exchange currencies directly on the Tether platform.
Withdrawal limits and account verification
The Bittrex team has stated its commitment to following all laws and regulations required by US government bodies, and accounts must be verified in order to make withdrawals. Bittrex supports this requirement as part of its anti-money-laundering (AML) and know-your-customer (KYC) program. Basic account verification lets customers withdraw the equivalent of 3 Bitcoin per day.
Currently there are two types of account:
- Basic accounts require users to submit their name, address and date of birth. These details are verified through public records; if that process fails, customers need to complete enhanced verification. With two-factor authentication enabled, basic accounts can withdraw up to 3 Bitcoin worth of cryptocurrency per day.
- Enhanced accounts require users to submit photos of their ID along with personal photos. These are verified by the provider Jumio, which uses a number of research methods to confirm the ID is legitimate and the faces match. Enhanced accounts can withdraw up to 100 Bitcoin per day if two-factor authentication is enabled.

How to get started on Bittrex
Visit the platform’s official website, then click the login icon and register using your email address and a password.

Verify your email address by clicking the link in the email Bittrex sends you. This lets you log in.
Deposit some cryptocurrency. At the top of the page when you first log in, you’ll see a list of all Bittrex markets. Click the Wallets page to deposit the crypto you prefer.
Use the search bar to find the coin you want to deposit, then click the plus-sign icon. A deposit box will appear that lets you generate a deposit address. When the address is ready for a deposit, it’s best to start with a small amount; if everything is fine, you can move on to depositing larger amounts. You can make your deposit by sending funds from a crypto wallet you already have.

Wait for confirmation through the blockchain. After your transaction receives a number of blockchain confirmations, you’ll receive the deposit and be ready to trade.
Find a pair you want to trade. When the deposit is ready to trade, look for the trading pair you want on the markets page.

Place your order.
For basic trading, the most important section to focus on is the order book. Here you can view all the buy, sell or order requests already placed by other users.

Choose your preferred price and number of units. Any order well below the asking price may not be triggered. When you place a limit buy order, it commits you to buying the cryptocurrency you entered, for the amount you entered, at or below the price you set.
Before submitting the order, you’ll be asked to confirm it. At this stage there is still an option to cancel orders.

Completing your order and withdrawing your funds
Once your order is filled, your new purchase will be shown as available in your Bittrex wallet. Clicking the withdraw icon will let you withdraw the purchase.
You can now transfer your funds to a wallet of your choice; just enter the amount you want to withdraw and the address you want to send the withdrawal to.
